About
Liza Mackintosh is a multifaceted artist and garden maker based in East Sussex. With a background in Fine Art, Liza applies her artistic knowledge to the way she composes gardens.
In 2022, Liza began gardening, initiating a new understanding of the botanical world that has long inspired her artwork. Following her curiosity, Liza completed an RHS level two in practical horticulture at Hever castle followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design. Liza creates thoughtfully designed planting schemes that reflect her understanding of the use of colour, form and composition to create an atmosphere within a garden. Her experience as a painter and her creative outlook deeply inspire her garden creating process.
In her studio, Liza creates quiet botanical drawings that capture her fascination with the multitude of form, texture and detail within the botanical world. Drawing has always been the starting point to her work and the pull to put pencil to paper has led to a collection of drawings largely inspired by the plant forms within her own garden.
Woven through drawing, painting and garden making is Liza’s deep rooted desire to capture and create a strong sense of place.
Liza is available to discuss her artwork as well as planting schemes to improve and develop your garden. Liza also has a collection of paintings available from Highgate Contemporary gallery.
